I'm still alive

Yes, I'm still alive. Struggling to fight this flu thing off, but getting there. Just not much crafting going on at all.

While I have been recuperating I was given a blog award by Sarah of Red Gingham. Thank you very much Sarah. I'm still not too sure how I feel about passing them on, but I do appreciate the fact that someone thinks my blog is good enough to give it an award. So, if you are reading this, consider yourself fabulous too.

I also won a great giveaway from another Sarah, of forevayoung vintage. This gorgeous vintage handbag. Thank you Sarah, I just love it!

Hopefully I will have some time between working this week to actually make something to blog! On the upside though, my room is still very tidy!

*cough, cough*

This is as creative as it gets.

Mind you, leaves me plenty of time for this. Almost finished now, loving it to bits!

Handmade Expo bounty

The Westerly winds have been playing havoc with my sinuses lately. Not feeling crafty at all. Shame, since now the craft room is so tidy.

I headed off to The Handmade Expo on Saturday at their brand new location. So much better than before. Walking around in the sun was very nice. I actually didn't take any photos, took my camera and everything. I think I was too distracted by all the gorgeous things to look at and all the food to eat. I mainly ate my way around the place, and only made one purchase. But it is so pretty, I had to show it off.

Not too sure what to store in it, I'm sure I'll think of something.

For now though, don't those selvedges look great! Maybe they can stay there.

my creative space...again

Following up from yesterdays massive effort, I have finished the whole craft room! It feels sooo good!

Before.

After.

Now all I have to do is get hubby to vacuum and it's all done.

Thanks for all the supportive messages yesterday. It was one of the hardest posts I have done. I felt very exposed, but I'm so glad I put it out there. Very therapeutic. Very liberating.

I'm heading off to The Handmade Expo tomorrow to help them celebrate their 1st birthday. I hope to pick up a few goodies and feel all inspired again to get creative.

Swap parcel received

So I survived my first swap. Who would of thought it would be so scary! I mean, it's one thing for someone to click the buy now button on your stuff, or to walk into a shop and say ohh, I'll take that, but for someone to get something you've made and actually like it, well that's another thing entirely.

The lovely Janice was my washcloth swap recipient, and it appears she loves it. Phew!! I made my washcloth with a vintage hobnail (or candlewick) chenille. I have this fabric in several colours, but from reading Janice's blog I thought she looked more like a sage green person. I bound the edges with a contrasting floral print and voila! I purchased the handmade soap and bath tea from Handmade Heaven. I choose a natural soap for Janice, again I thought it looked like her style.

I'm glad that everyone enjoyed the swap. Maybe it was a little too stressful for me. Maybe I just need a little more confidence in my abilities.

Thanks so much for hosting this swap Jodie, you did a fabulous job.

my creative space...

Wow. O.k. I can't believe I'm about to reveal this to the world, but here goes.

My creative space, of late, has not been very creative. I have piled high the crap, and left it there. Closed the door to it. And I have in turn felt like crap. I love to feel like even if I'm not actually making anything that I'm still surrounded by beautiful things. My little craft room has given off bad vibes. I lost the sewjo. It was time to take action.

This week I have been cleaning it out. I'm almost done. I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel, and oh how bright it is! Along the way I have found the ideas blooming. The sewjo really is returning.

Before.

After.

Before.

After.

Please don't judge me too harshly.

More creative peeps here.

A photo a day - day 13

From Miss 12's perspective. She has seen me excited about photography again, and wanted to get in on the action. I sent her out yesterday with the compact, and these are some of her efforts. I was one proud mumma.

A photo a day - day 12

I think I've missed a few in there somewhere!

Yesterday, while procrastinating about tidying my craft room, I took my new camera out to the yard and took some photo's. I'm loving playing with all the settings, and I haven't even read the 1 inch thick manual yet!!

Felting Fail

I'm very new to all this felting (or felling) business. I've had a crack at felting some old sweaters in the wash, and mostly they have been coming out quite well. I found this big ugly sweater at the op shop recently and was feeling in the mood for a little refashioning ala clutterpunk style. I had visions of this fabulous chunky cardi with short sleeves and chunky buttons. It looked so wonderful.... in my head.

I thought this would be perfect. A nice soft knit, quite light, loose weave. I thought (with my limited felting knowledge) that this wouldn't felt up too tightly, being a loose knit. As it was also obviously handmade I had no idea of fibre content, so I was flying blind. Maybe not a good idea.

I'm sure it would make a great re-fashion statement for a 6 month old, what do you think?

Please excuse the disgusting mess on my carpet in that top photo. I'm in tidy mode in my craft room this week, the results of which I hope to reveal in Thursdays creative space.

Wash cloth parcel arrives!

I was very nervous to take part in Jellywares washcloth swap, and am still terrified that when my swap partner receives my washcloth efforts she is going to be disappointed. I guess that's how it goes in a swap though isn't it.

I have to admit when I saw two stunning washcloths on this blog, I was secretly hoping they were heading to my house, so when I checked the mail today and saw Fox's Lane on the back of my package I squealed (just a little!) with delight.

How beautiful are these? And how did Kate know purple is my all time favourite colour?! And the soap is to die for. Thank you Kate, it is all just lovely.

The Tinnie

Seriously, if you haven't already got yourself a Tinnie, go and get one before they are gone forever. I opted for "The surprise Tinnie", and it is just perfect. Thanks Tinniegirl.

A photo a day

Still playing with my new baby.

Taking photos of the new items I'm going to try out at Handmade Heaven. Made with a vintage pattern, I am loving how these are turning out. The problem I am having though is trying to figure out how to price them. What would you pay for something like this?

Just having a play with the new baby. I love that you can change the ISO. I love grainy textures in photos.

A photo a day

Oops! Missed a day.

I work in a photo lab and yesterday took some of my old negatives in to put onto c.d. This photo was taken almost 12 years ago with my 35mm slr, but thought I would post it anyway. I took a whole series of photos of my then baby with slide film, then put the slide film through C41 (colour process) It gives off eerie colours and fabulous grainy texture. I had wedding photos done this way too. I just love this photo. It makes me smile.

Thanks Megan, I'm hoping to rediscover my passion for photography this month, it's been a long time between drinks.

Sunday Stash #9

Can I combine two posts in one? Well, I'm going to.

Sunday stash: My ever growing pile of selvedge. This woman has me hooked.

A photo a day in August - day 2: Don't they just look so pretty altogether there?

A photo a day in August.

Playing with photos of Miss M's quilt. Still not finished though. Dreaming of when I get my new camera and wishing I had photoshop on my laptop.

Playing along with Megan for this one. Lets hope I can manage a photo a day.
