cheating on TS

Team selvedge that is.

I just had to make my own little project from selvedge. But I did feel a little like I was cheating on Team Selvedge. I hope you'll
forgive me Jodie!

It's a little needle and pin keep, and I'
m pretty happy with how it turned out, considering I slapped it together! I still have a few more selvedges that I want to make a coin purse out of, then I promise Jodie, the rest are your's!

my creative space...

In my creative space this week we have,

New fabrics I'm fondling

Chenille and cutter quilt pieces I am putting together to make a bunny for my cousins new baby girl just born yesterday ( yay!! love your work D!)

Mushie and gnome kit from Jodie that I hope to get started this afternoon

And my cute little notebook ordered through work with my lists of all the things I have to get done!

The only thing that has to get done today is grocery shopping, so after that I plan on not thinking about the two custom quilt orders, the custom tissue box holder order, or the housework, and just put my feet up and stitch.

For more creative inspiration head over to Kirsty's.

Ric Rac Rocks!

Seriously, if you haven't been over to Jodie's blog, you need to get over there right now!
No, stop reading, go there now, but then, please come back!

See, great isn't she! I have been following Jodie's blog for quite some time. She is the reason I am addicted to chenille, so when she had some new goodies on offer in her etsy shop, I couldn't resist. While I looove her little dolls, I don't have anyone to make them for. Miss 11 is "too old for dolls" so I snapped up her little Mushie and Gnome kit. Can't wait to get started, looks sooo cute! And I don't know how Jodie thinks she is going to make any money when she gives stuff away, but I am very grateful for the very cute cards she gifted me.

Love you Jodie!

words and pictures... little things

Comfort.

Snuggles on cold nights.

Blankets, pillows, warm electric blanket.

Night time rituals from an adoring little girl.

For those that know me outside of blogland know, I have dealt with some pretty big things in my long 33 years on this planet.

These little things make it all worthwhile.

Thank you Pip for this meme.

Esmerelda

Meet Esmerelda.

I think she is my favourite chenille bunny ever!

Maybe I will enter her in the show.

Do you think she has supermodel qualities? Would it all go to her head?

sophie isobel giveaway

A couple of days ago I blogged about the lovely order I recieved from Sophie at Sophie Isobel designs. Well, today she is having a giveaway! Go and check out her blog for an entry into the draw! Go on, hurry!

I think if I won, I would have to get a " i heart chenille" brooch. In fact, maybe I should just order one anyway!

I've just updated my shop and added a few new items to it. Including a cushion cover made from my crazy log cabin blocks.

if you are my mother, stop reading this now!

Yes that's right, you heard me Mum, stop reading now. You can read it after I see you next.

I mean it!

Okay, for those of you who aren't my mother, please do continue. The other day I requested a custom order from the delightful Sophie, of Sophie Isobel designs on etsy. I asked her if she would make me a brooch for my horse mad Miss 11. And Sophie said she would love to! Now, after I clicked on the add to cart button, I spotted the perfect brooch for my book mad Mother already there in Sophie's shop!

So today they both arrived, and I am so happy! Sophie certainly goes to a lot of trouble in her packaging. I even took photos of the package, it was so pretty!
See how nice it is!
I must apologise for the washed out photo, they are much prettier in real life.

Thank you Sophie, I love them!

Oh, and check out her blog too!

my creative space...

This week I'm putting my own creative spin on my creative space.

The last few days have been filled with finding creative ways to get one very stubborn 13 year old purebred Staffy to eat 2 tablets twice a day. No mean feat, let me tell you!

The old girl has cancer. She should be able to live quite fine with this, according to her vet, for the rest of her days. She did however have one large tumour that needed to be removed. The vet wasn't sure if she would m
ake it through the surgery, but thought she deserved the chance. And in true Rock Star fashion, she came through with flying colours!

I have been playing around with photos of her, I guess that's also creative?!

Here she is. My little China Girl.

For much more creative spaces than my own, head over to Kirsty's and see who else is playing along.

just listed

Just listed my "Home on the Range" quilt in my etsy store.

the market, and a rant

Well, I have to say that I'm a little disappointed about my market stall on Sunday. I don't really understand what it is about people that makes them not appreciate your hardwork and feel you should be paid reasonably for it. To me it seems that we have become such a throw away society and are used to purchasing low quality, cheap items imported from countries where they are paid an absolute pittance for their hardwork, that we no longer are able to recognise the value of people's creativity and craftsmanship.

I don't know if it was just the wrong venue for me, or if people just really don't have the money to spend. I found everyone to be friendly, and seemed to love my products, but when they saw what I was asking for them, they turned and walked away. Only one person commented on just how much work she could see had gone into some of my things.

It can be very disheartening. And also a little humiliating. For those of you that have very successful market stalls, could you share some advice? I would love to hear your tips on a successful stall.

I hope everyones weekend was a little better than mine!

to market, to market

If you decide tomorrow that you feel like heading out for a day trip to Beaudesert , Mt Tamborine or Boonah, and you're driving through Jimboomba, why not stop in to the Hills Fresh Market at Hill's College. Right on the corner of the Mt Lindesay highway and Johanna st Jimboomba, from 7am until 12 pm.

I would really love to see you there! I'll be the one with all the chenille!

my creative space...

This week my creative space has really been any flat surface in the house! I have stuff everywhere! All for this market on Sunday. So I have been quite busy. Nothing like leaving things to the last minute.

I have totes from recycled sheets and pillowcases. Cushion covers made from my chenille scraps. Little Scotties made from chenille. Baby quilts from chenille and vintage fabrics. My gorgeous bunnies, large and small made from chenille. And some little hairclips and ponytail holders using yo-yo's. There is more, but I ran out of room on the ironing board!

This is my first real market, so I wasn't sure what to take and what to sell, so we'll see how things go!

Check out all the other creative people over at Kirsty's.

one for the boys

I realised the other day that I had made many little quilts using chenille, but none of them were suitable for a little boy.

So with this market I'm attending on Sunday in mind, I thought I might whip together a little quilt for the boys. This one I thought would be good as either a baby quilt, or as a runner for a single bed, so I put the pom pom trim on the two short sides.

The chenille along with Cath Kidston cowboy fabric is quite cute I think. Just have to back it now, and it's coming along on Sunday
.
Great little selvedge giveaway happening over here.

If you love selvedge, just like Jodie, then pop over to enter!

Unfortunately...

I was just looking through some blogs and came across this post over at the Lark, and thought it sounded fun.

Basically you type "Unfortunately.....insert your first name here" into Google and see what comes up, just for fun. You have to do the "" quote things to make it work.

Mmmm, seems that Catwoman was named Selina also, so as you can imagine, it came up with some pretty funny results!

Unfortunately, Selina survived, and suffered a nervous breakdown, finding strength and the need for revenge in her new persona as the violent thief Catwoman ...

Unfortunately, Selina had made a lot of enemies over the years, from gimmicky villains to super-powered communists

Unfortunately, Selina
can often get you into trouble when around wealthy merchants and nobles.

And now for my favourite...

Unfortunately Selina ended up in Sprang Hall Juvenile Detention Center, a home for deliquent youths

Go and try it, it's really funny!

my creative space...

This week my creative space has been the dining table.

A little production line of cut out bags at the moment. All in the anticipation of a little market I will be attending on the 15th of March.

It wasn't until last Sunday when I actually realised it was only 2 weeks away! eek!

Vintage Easter cards

I thought maybe you might be interested to know where I got the vintage Easter images that I have printed onto some fabric. Here is one site I found that had heaps of really cute images for free.

Great for making cards with the kids, or a really special Easter basket in fabric. I plan on turning one into a little fabric bucket, using this tutorial.
