A thank you and an update....

Thank you all so much for your messages of support on my last post. It really did mean a lot to me. I'm not one to let those sorts of things out, I like to keep things all positive, all the time, but sometimes a girl's got to vent. So thanks for listening!

After writing that last post and hitting publish, it was enough for me to make the decision to get a little more proactive. I had been at that point of throwing my hands in the air and giving up. I've managed to track down a company on the Gold Coast that normally doesn't hire the batteries for the oxygen concentrators separately, but they have decided to hire them to me, at a fraction of the price originally quoted through the hospital. Not only that, the showroom on the Gold Coast doesn't actually have those batteries in stock, they are having them couriered up from Sydney for me, at no extra cost. As the machine I have is an older one, they only have 2 spare batteries, which will be an extra 6 hours plus the 3 I already have, which makes me feel a lot better about travelling. It will mean I will be able to have a small sleep without the fear of waking with a debilitating headache. It's nice to know there are some people out there willing to help you out.

Really, thanks again for the support, you guys rock.

At least you got some good news and there is a world out there but it's just a pity we have to slog it out of society x

Well done you on finding a (almost complete) solution. It is sad that the sensible majority have to suffer for the stupid minority. How come they're stupid enough to do these things but suddenly clever enough to sue companies and ruin it for the rest of us? I don't understand.

Yup, a vent can make a girl feel much better and by the sound of it you had a very good reason to rant! Glad you've found a semi-solution. So jealous of your trip to France!

I'm so pleased to hear you found a solution. It would be even better if Emirates decided to be nice too!
Good luck with the rest of the preparations and hope you have the most fabulous time away.

I have missed so much… I just had a little catch up, up not sure if I saw everything I missed, but enough to remind me of how much I have been missing. How dare Emirates treat you like that – but so glad you have found some helpful folk to make your journey easier. I hear you on the survivor guilt issue, I am trying really hard to drag myself out of it and move on with life. It just feels like this year has been one disaster after another and it’s so hard to focus on the things that were important last year. But something I know that is very important are the wonderful folk like you that I have met through blogging, so I am determined to get back into the swing of it. So looking forward to a vicarious trip to Paris with you. xxx K

First: you make me laugh! What a well justified rant you had and you did it SO well. Second: good on you for sorting it. I hope you have a wonderful time on your long-long awaited trip. Take your brilliant sense of humour with you. : ) Kim PS. Why don't you send a copy of your blog post to their marketing dept and let them see how wide reaching a 'little rant' can go! Hmm!
