my creative space...
This week has been one of very little creativity. The most I have done was seen on yesterdays post. Yep, bunting was as creative as it got.
I have been doing some planning of things still though and so spent a lot of time on the computer, on the couch, printing vintage Easter cards onto fabric with our new inkjet printer.
That's creative. Isn't it? Someone? Hello??

brain overload
Obviously I fried the CPU in my brain from all the projects I had cooking away in there.
None of last weeks planned projects have come to fruition . This bunting is the only thing I have really managed to do all week, and I just did it an hour ago!
I did manage a little trip to the local oppy. Miss 11 needed a long sleeve shirt for a wall mural mosaic they are doing at school , and I picked up this very cute vintage Raggedy pillowcase. 50c.
Also while searching Big W (of all places) for baby shower gifts for my cousin, I stumbled across their habby section, and found 1930's prints for $3.64 a fat quarter. I was most impressed!Aren't they gorgeous!!

my creative space...
This week my head has been all over the place! And my sewing room is indeed reflecting that. I can't focus on one thing, I keep flitting from one thing to another.
I've got chenille that i'm cutting for an order.
Wonky star blocks for Camp follower.
Little stitchery thank you for who ever wins the quilt.
Order received from sublime stitching (totally gorgeous by the way!)
Pieced border pieces for a quilt my Mum and I are doing together (well, she's really the one doing it, I'm just the side kick!)
There is also the beginnings of a quilt I intend to make for the Ipswich Show. First prize is a whopping $5 people! Kaching!
There is actually more going on that is not pictured, so you can see why my head is about to implode. I'm hardly sleeping, I'm drinking way too much coffee (thanks Mum!!) and this post is way too long!!
Hopefully my head will stay intact long enough to get everything done.
Head over to Kirsty to see who else is playing along this week.

wonky stars
Well, what do you think? Good for my first "real" quilt square? (well I have done a nine patch quilt, but really can that count??)
This, along with another one, will be heading off to Camp follower. Another crafty blogger doing what she can for the cause. I hope she likes.

chenille quilt, listed!
I have just listed on ebay my little contribution to the bushfire appeal.
I am hoping it goes for a lot, and my biggest wish is that someone will pay a fortune, and then donate it someone who has lost everything in the fire. how cool would that be!
If you have come from my auction on ebay, i will fill you in on what some of us have been trying to do. Help. Basically thats it, just help. The only way we know how. Every cent from this auction (except postage) will go to the bushfire appeal. Once payment has been received, I will send the full sale price to The Red Cross. I will then send you the receipt along with your quilt. Easy. So bid big!
Oh, and most of the chenille in this quilt has come from my personal stash, the stuff that usually just gets looked at and drooled over. Yep, I wanted to help that much!
my creative space...
I've been very distracted this week by all the goings on in Victoria. While I live in Brisbane, I was born in Melbourne and have always had a very big soft spot for all things Victorian.
So this week my creative space has been consumed by the making of a quilt to auction off for the fire victims.
Watch this space, later today I hope to have this finished and listed on ebay with the proceeds going to the bushfire relief.
Head over to Kirsty and check out more creative spaces, and head over to handmade help to check out the offerings for the bushfire relief.

helping best we can
As you might notice from the button on my sidebar, I have decided to try and help best I can with the bushfire appeal. The thing that I love best about this country of ours, is that when the chips are down, we band together, and try to help out our fellow countrymen any way we know how.
I will be making a quilt, and auctioning it on ebay, and all proceeds will be going to the bushfire appeal. Just click on the button on my sidebar to take you to the handmade help blog, and follow all the other great crafty bloggers trying to help, the way Aussie women do best, with our hands.
Thanks.

and the winner is.....
O.k, so I just couldn't hold out any longer! I used the random number generator thingy,
and it came up with......
Can you see it?? It says 6. And number 6 is ..... Bec Clarke!
Strangely enough, the draw was entered by many people from around the world and Bec is from right here in Australia! I will be sending Bec an email to get her address and posting off her prize.
Thanks everyone who entered, it was great fun! I have to say, there were some very sweet entries, and if I had been picking one based on comment alone it would have to be the comment from Digital Misfit that said "you had me at chenille" I loved it!
I hope you all decide to drop by more often, to check out my chenille hoard!

quilty comments
On advice from the hairdresser, I have made some changes to the quilt layout. He is quite the fussy man, and I'm hoping he's a little happier with this layout.
Let me know what you think. I'm really nervous about this one!

my creative space...
If you're here for the stash giveaway, it's in the post below! But while you're here, take a peek into my creative space for this week.
I have been quite obsessed with my crazy log cabin blocks this week. Not too sure if i should put chenille sashing between each block, or just a plain homespun or something.
I have also been putting together some of the little blocks for my "Parisian" quilt, it's not quite behaving like it should be! Miss 11 loves how it's going, but then I suppose a lot of tweens would!
Head over to see Kirsty for a full list of those doing my creative space today.
Feel free to leave comments for this post, but only comments in the giveaway post will qualify for the draw. Entries end at midnight tonight ( Australian eastern time).

The great international stash busting giveaway
Well here it is! As part of the great international stash busting giveaway as hosted by I'm a ginger monkey, I will be giving away this little assortment of goodies.Flowers and cupcakes and chenille, oh my!
As you can see the colour theme is very pink! These pieces are all left over from various projects. There is 2 different chenilles, varying pink themed flannelette fabrics, a gorgeous little cupcake cotton print and as a bonus, a chenille flower for applique. This would look great on the back of a little quilt, next to your quilt label.
There is enough fabric here to make a little baby quilt top, or a lap quilt top. The colours are so sweet! So all you have to do to enter is simply leave a comment on this post, and it's open to anyone in the world, blog or no blog, so get commenting! Head over to I'm a ginger monkey for a full list in her sidebar of all the blogs taking part. There are heaps!
The winner will be announced Saturday morning ( Australian eastern time), if you don't have a blog, leave me an email address in your comment, or just check back Saturday to see if you've won. Easy!
Good luck!
edit* entries will close as of midnight on the 5th of Feb, so get cracking!

is there anyone out there who know of, or, who want to start, a weekly recipe post of your budget-busting meal?
i'm talking like, once a week, say on a Friday, you post a healthy, family friendly recipe that could feed say 4 people for under $15.00. Then everyone could whip round, check the other blogs and find a new recipe for the next weeks menu plan.
if anyone knows if someone is already hosting something like this, or is interested in joining in on one, leave a comment here. Ta!

After a hard day at work it's always good to come home to a lovely little package courtesy of the postie (and ebay). this was awaiting me when I got home yesterday, don't you just love them!
Some gorgeous little 30's prints, very hard to find in my neck of the woods!
I also just couldn't stop with just one crazy log cabin block! I am up to about block seven, all made from scraps, and still loving how they have turned out. More chenille porn, just for all you chenille nuts out there, you know who you are!!
Don't forget to check back here tomorrow for my stash busting giveaway, I have a great little stash of goodies to give away, and you know there is gonna be some chenille in that lot somewhere!

lovin' myself sick!
When something works out as good in practise as it looked in my head, I just love myself soo much, even i'm sickened by it!
Tada!
Crazy log cabin block...in chenille! Now maybe i'm not the first to try this, I honestly don't know. I have never seen it anywhere, and i'm sure there are other chenille obsessed nuts out there who may have tried it. For the mean time, I am gonna claim it as my own, and just love myself sick!
This was done entirely with chenille scraps, and I have a HEAP, so I may be able to make several quilts out of scraps using this method.
And here is another photo, for your chenille viewing pleasure!
