I thought it might be fun to have a week of Christmas in July while the weather is cool and I'm dreaming of a white Christmas.
This year my family is having what we have always called "The Rip Up"*. I have a fairly big family on my mothers side, and when I was a kid we had "The Rip Up" every 2 years. Now all the kids (my cousins and I) have grown and some of us have families of our own, so we decided this year to bring back "The Rip Up".
With lots of relatives from all walks of life ranging in ages from 6 months to 60, I thought it would be fun to try and make as much of the gifts as I can, which is also part of the reason I am already thinking about it. With around 40 people to cater for, I will have my work cut out for me! So, now to the reason for my 7 days of Christmas! I have been doing a bit of searching in the internets for helpful tutorials for quick and easy gifts. I have found plenty. I have also been searching for cheaper handmade gifts that other people have already done all the hard work for me. So I thought I would share some of these with everyone, so we can all start to get in the Christmas spirit. Yay! If you'd like to join in on your blog, let me know, it'll be fun! I promise!

*"The Rip Up" was so named for the ripping that was required when opening all the presents. No neatly opening presents for our family! You have to rip! I have fond memories of the extra large pile of ripped up wrapping paper in the centre of the room that small children would find themselves lost in.
Yes, I'm still alive! School holidays are almost done with so maybe I can get my groove back.
Following Christina's advice, I bought some fabric to tempt back the sewjo. Hopefully it works.
And these are what I bought. All Aunt Grace 1930's prints except the purple one, it's R.J.R Fabrics "Everything but the kitchen sink". Selvedges were attached to all of them, so it was a double score! Love the Scottie dog selvedge the most, I can feel that sewjo crawling it's way home right now! All purchased from this ebay shop.
As promised quite some time ago, here is a photo of my second place getter at the Ipswich show.
I entered her in the article made from recycled materials, and she is completely constructed from my chenille scraps. I love how she turned out and have plans on making more like her in the future.
Once July hits, I start to think about Christmas. Don't really know why, just weird that way I guess.
These chenilles are perfect for Christmas. I only have small bits of these left, and treasure them completely!

I'm hoping that by making myself sew, my sewjo will return. I do love making these needlecases, hopefully I can find my sewjo hiding in the piles of scrap fabrics and felt.

The lack of posts this week has been due to lack of crafting, hospital visits and general feelings of unwellness (is that even a word??).Handmade Heaven however had a very successful week for it's first official week of trade, and I was lucky enough to share in that success. Two of my lovely quilts were snapped up which meant for me last weekend I was in lockdown to produce some more.
Silly me didn't take photos of all of them. I managed to finish putting together a lap quilt made of gorgeous pastel boutique chenille that I love. Hope it goes to a great home!
