Flea Market finds.... just a little early

I am so happy over my find for this week that I just couldn't wait until Sunday for Sophie's flea market finds, so I am showing you all now.

As in last week, this weeks find was from ebay. Actually from the same seller as last week too. After purchasing all the fabulous vintage transfers I was looking through her ebay shop for more when I came across this. I was totally smitten. It was feeding my little laundry obsession perfectly, and for $2, I had to have it.

Look at it! It's so gorgeous! And the cutest thing, the size......

I totally love it! It is made of brass and was made to contain the little pegs and originally had a little clothesline as well, and it was used when travelling to hang up your delicates. I can't believe how something so small is bringing me so much joy!

Go and check out other flea market finds here, but you had better wait until Sunday, I'm just a little early!

my creative space...

I can't seem to focus on just one thing this week. So this photo is exactly how my head is feeling, cluttered and unorganised. I have the apron for the swap to finish, a little bunny who I am just not sure is working the way I want it too, the finishing touch to my peg bag (the baby coat hangers, which will probably feature in this Sundays flea market finds), the little peg guy stitchery from last week all finished ready to be made into a peg bag (yes, you all guessed right!), and some wooden clothes pegs that I picked up from the $2 shop that I am trying to figure out how to age. I tried the coffee and oven trick on one and it came out just dirty looking and reeking of coffee. Anyone have any tips?

For hopefully more well organised spaces, head over to Kirsty's.

The one named Jaffa

This is Jaffa. She is certainly not shy. Most bunnies quietly tell me their names as they are being constructed. Not Jaffa. She was screaming her name at me from the moment I started cutting her out.

She is currently residing at Handmade Heaven, waiting for someone to come and give her a home. I hope she doesn't scare them off, being so boisterous and all.

Shopping guide

Recently I have been asked by a few people where I get my gorgeous chenille, and I thought I wouldn't be greedy and I'll let you all in on the secret. I have found the best seller for vintage chenille on ebay. She has the biggest range you are ever likely to find and her quality is second to none.

She has informed me that she is looking to get into other crafty endeavours and may in fact not be selling chenille for too much longer, so you had better get in quick.

At the moment she is also selling out quite a few spare bits and pieces of chenille that you may not have seen up for sale for quite a while.

Check out Sharon's ebay shop here, and tell her Selina sent you! (well, actually you don't need to tell her that, I'm not getting a kick back or anything for this, just wanted to share the chenille love!)

Oh, I also wanted to say thank you all so much for all your birthday wishes! They really made my day!

Flea Market finds

This week I'm including an ebay purchase as a flea market find. I think anytime you get a bargain on vintage stuff, that has to be included right?! I got a large packet filled with gorgeous vintage embroidery transfers and I can't wait to use them. This is just a small sample of what I got. That deer one is my favourite, it's rather large and I think it will look fabulous worked in red. I have something else coming from this same seller that I am totally in love with and can't wait to get here, hopefully you'll all see it in next weeks Flea Market Finds.

Oh, and it's my birthday today, so my plan is to sit on the couch with my feet up and get stitchin'. Hope you all have a lazy Sunday planned too!

my creative space...

My laundry obsession has progressed. I've been searching for vintage embroidery transfers with laundry themes and came across this little guy (or gal) over at Floresita's vintage transfer finds blog. Can you guess what he's going to become?

Finally, a re-fashion!

Since I pledged over at Wardrobe Refashion I haven't actually managed to get to do anything! But when I was hanging out some gorgeous vintage sheets, getting ready for the vintage sheet swap, I had some plans a-brewing.I guess not technically a refashion, as in, they were not originally clothes, but they weren't bought fabric either, so I'm counting it as a refashion.

First up these lounge pants that I cut out last week, but didn't manage to put together until 2 days ago. They are super soft and comfy, and perfect for the mild winter that unfortunately Queensland brings.

Then with the other sheet I decided to refashion my bed of sorts. I'm not much into the whole decorating thing but thought this sheet matched my chenille bedspread perfectly, so I got to it. Yes, pillowcases from vintage sheets! Who would have thought!!

Before
After
What do you think?

That ugly black bedside thing has been asking for a revamp for quite some time, and in sitting here looking at the photo I just had a major brain wave on what to do with it. Stay tuned....

A treasury

Check out this etsy treasury made by a flea circus. See that gorgeous snow white chenille in there? That's mine. Check out all the other "white hot" stuff she has included in the treasury as well. So nice.

Birthday wishlist

Well, my birthday is coming up this week and due to recent unforeseen purchases ( big vet bills and replacing a chest freezer that died in the night with $250 worth of meat inside) my birthday will probably just pass me by. sigh. So anyway, I thought I would make a little wishlist of stuff that I love, but would probably never buy myself anyway, which is what birthdays should be about!

Notice a weird theme? Yep, the laundry obsession is back. (well, actually it never really left)

Feeling good

So I popped into Handmade Heaven yesterday to drop off this gorgeous newly made quilt and pay my monthly rent. When I walked in there were quite a few people in the shop and I noticed several looking at and touching my vintage chenille goodies. I walked past and casually listened in to their conversation, and I am so glad I did! They were saying how gorgeous my quilts were, and how beautiful the chenille was, and how well priced they were, and it made me feel really good. Something I think I have needed for a while. There were other ladies admiring my bunnies and then let me know how much they love them and had come to the store just to see them. I have had a few things brewing in the back of my mind and now I think maybe it's time to get my butt into gear and get going with it. Hopefully if you pop back next week I may just have a few little announcements to make. Thank you for the boost in my self confidence ladies!

Sunday

This coming Sunday (the 16th of May) Wolston House will be holding an open day for Heritage Week. Gold coin donation entry. Tour the house and grounds, grab a devonshire tea, stay for the sausage sizzle or bring your own picnic lunch. There will even be a couple of craft stalls. It's a great way to spend a lazy Sunday while raising some funds to keep National Trust properties like this one going. I'll be there along with my fabulous Mum, come and say Hi, we'd love to see you there!

P.S. Remember back here I did a photo shoot with Holly, the kinder girl? Well, that was Wolston House, pretty nice hey?!

my creative space...

Using one of the vintage sheets from the other day I'm making some lounge pants. I love this particular pattern, it's a one piece pants pattern. Love them so much more than two piece ones. I guess it's also my first official re-fashion since taking the pledge. There are so many more things I should be doing today, but all I want to do is sew. Is that bad?

Pop over and say hi to Kirsty and all the other creative peeps.

Vintage sheet goodness

There's still time to sign up for the great Australian vintage sheet swap. We would love to have you join in. I had these beauties hanging on the line yesterday in the gorgeous Queensland sun, getting ready to be cut up and thought of a few things to do with them. Stay tuned...

Oldest UFO ever

Well, that title could make for some very interesting blog hits couldn't it!

I was having a bit of a clean out of my linen cupboard and once again came across this quilt that I started for my Miss 12....when she was my Miss 2! I can't believe I only have the border quilting and the binding to do! Maybe it's just because I'm not that into country prints anymore....

I really shouldn't let all that fabric go to waste though should I!

A good yarn...

Am I breaking the pledge if I get someone else to handcraft something for me with yarn? I'm hoping as we speak that my mother is turning this delicious yarn (25% off at Spotlight) into a spunky little scarf for me. Or am I pushing my luck after that post a couple of days ago?

It's show time!

Imagine my surprise when I finally got around to finishing off my second submission on Saturday for the Ipswich show, I sat at the computer and came cross this fabulous clock from Kirsty. All I can say is, great minds think alike! And I think I like Kirsty's a little more than I like my own!

Ever since I had brought home these canvasses I had the plan to turn one into a chenille clock, I was just worried that it wouldn't work. Well, it did, and here it is. I've entered this one in the "item made from recycled materials" section of the show, of which I came second last year with this entry. Mum and I will be heading off on Thursday to the show to see how we went (yes, my Mum has entered some items too!). Wish us luck!

Eeek, what have I done!

I've been dithering about for months, will I, won't I. So when the call to sign up appeared on the Wardrobe Refashion blog just over a week ago I bit the bullet and signed up! Eeeek!

So, here I go.....

Flea Market finds

I had a very successful thrifting week this week! I spent under $20 and I got all this and some very nice pieces for my winter wardrobe. That little jug is probably my favourite, oh and the vintage sewing basket, oh oh and the gorgeous supper cloth and 4 matching napkins....

More flea market finds at Sophie's.
